Biography / CVLondon based carver&sculptor Tom Brown began his career in the time-honoured tradition of European stonemasons from the Renaissance onwards, travelling Britain and Europe to gain experience on various high-profile stone commissions. This journey both broadened his historical grasp of the tradition he had entered and taught him the practical skills needed to bend an intransigent medium to his will. Tom hopes to keep the ancient craft of working stone alive by producing his own original work; and also to do his part, as a restoration carver, in perpetuating our great European tradition of built heritage.Tom has worked on numerous prestigious projects, from the V&A’s Renaissance galleries and London’s Royal Albert Memorial to St George’s Chapel Windsor and Horace Walpole’s Strawberry Hill Mansions. Now, an award-winning stone carver and sculptor, Tom has recently been elected to the Worshipful Company of Masons, who regularly sponsor him to provide carving displays to promote both the appreciation and the practise of the art of stone carving among the general public. Tom now carves and designs for private and public sculptural commissions. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
